FAQs

Many people improve with sprays, tablets, and rinses. FESS is advised when symptoms persist or keep returning despite good medical treatment, or when scans show blocked sinuses or polyps.

It’s done under general anaesthesia through the nostrils, so you don’t feel pain during surgery. Expect a stuffy nose and mild pressure for a few days; most cases are a day-care or 1-night stay.

Most people resume light desk work in 3–5 days. Healing continues for 2–6 weeks while the nose settles; energy and breathing improve steadily.

Begin saline rinses as your ENT advises (often after 24–48 hours). Avoid cotton buds and forceful sniffing; use prescribed nasal sprays after your review.

Don’t blow your nose for the first week, sneeze with your mouth open, skip heavy lifting or straining, and avoid dusty or smoky environments until cleared.

Light oozing or small clots are common for a few days. Seek help for persistent bright-red bleeding, high fever, severe headache, eye swelling or vision changes, or worsening pain.

They can, especially with allergies or polyps. Regular saline rinses, using steroid sprays as prescribed, and follow-ups with your ENT reduce the risk of recurrence.
